Digital Photography Pocket Guide 2002

By now you and your digital camera have become fast friends
and are working together to make great images. But like the
art of cooking, and life, there’s always more to learn.
This chapter is more conversational than the previous two. The
earlier sections of the book were designed for quick reference—
to use while standing on the battlefield of photography and
trying to survive. (“Quick, should I turn the flash on or off for
my daughter’s outdoor birthday party?” Answer: Flash on.)
But now the discussion becomes more free-flowing—like a conversation
between two photographers trying to decide the best
approach for a given situation. The topics in this chapter focus
on both shooting and sharing pictures—what good is a great
shot if you can’t get it in front of others?
So, grab a fresh memory card, a charged set of batteries, and
prepare for the next stage of your journey

eBay Photography - The Smart Way

A picture may well be worth a thousand eBay points. Think about it. With
the exceptions of high fashion and perhaps automobiles, professional product
photography is unglamorous. Yet it’s the spice in almost all advertising,
much product packaging, and the like. It stimulates commerce like almost
nothing else can, and it’s important to the economy. Where would manufacturers,
wholesalers, and retailers be without attractive photos to lure their
customers?
While product photography may be below everyone’s radar screen as an economic
force, there is no question that photos sell products, and indeed sell
them well. It is a tribute to the thousands of professional product photographers
that our commerce is a visual one. Everyone loves photos, and everyone
depends on them, buyers and sellers alike.

Lighting the Nude - Top Photography Professionals Share Their Secrets

The most common response from the photographers who contributed to this book, when the
concept was explained to them, was "I'd buy that". The aim is simple: to create a library of
books, illustrated with first-class photography from all around the world, which show exactly
how each individual photograph in each book was lit.
The lighting drawings in this book are intended as a guide to the lighting set-up rather than as
absolutely accurate diagrams. Part of this is due to the variation in the photographers' own
drawings, but part of it is also due to the need to represent complex set-ups in a way which
would not be needlessly confusing.

Outdoor Photographer - Light in Landscapes Photography

What makes the landscape image stand out from another? Is it loca-
tion ? We've all seen stale photographs from the most dramatic
destinations, so location alone isn't enough. Is it composition?
A well-composed image is essential, but it can look artificial if the
scene isn't right.
It's the light. One thing we see here at Outdoor Photographer is
how the use of light consistently distinguishes landscape images.
Light can transform a scene from boring to evocative, giving a loca-
tion atmosphere and mood.

McGraw Hill - Shoot Like a Pro! Digital Photography Techniques

As someone who writes photography books, I often get calls from friends
and colleagues who are unhappy with their current cameras and want me to
recommend something that “takes better pictures.” Nine times out of ten,
further discussion reveals that a new camera isn’t the answer. All most people
need to turn out terrific photos is simply a little technical guidance and some
help with their photographic technique.
To get good results from a digital camera, you need to understand traditional
photography controls, such as exposure and focus options. That’s only half
the story, however. You also have to master digital-only features such as white
balance, resolution, and image file formats.
Professional photographers go to school for years to study these subjects and
refine their craft. Just because you have neither the time nor the inclination
to get a degree in photography doesn’t mean that you, too, can’t take
professional-looking pictures, however. With this book, you can get stellar
results from your digital camera without setting foot inside a classroom.
Shoot Like a Pro! Digital Photography Techniques condenses the most important
lessons of photography school into one, easy-to-digest package. You’ll not only
get the information you need to decipher the jargon associated with digital
photography, but also learn techniques that enable you to take full advantage
of all the creative controls your camera offers.

Mastering Digital SLR Photography

This book won’t cheat you. Unlike most of the “digital photography” books on the shelves, this
one doesn’t waste half its chapters telling you how to overcome your digital camera’s shortcomings
in Photoshop. There are a lot of great Photoshop books that can do that. No, the best
part about the new breed of digital SLRs is that they have exciting new capabilities that will let
you take great pictures in the camera, if you know how to use the tools at your fingertips. This
book emphasizes digital photography rather than software. It shows you how to take compelling
pictures and make great images using imaging technology, while taking into account the special
strengths of digital SLR cameras. Whether you’re a snap-shooting tyro, or an experienced
photographer moving into the digital SLR realm, you’ll find the knowledge you need here.
Every word in this book was written from the viewpoint of the serious photographer.

Starting Photography - The guide to great images with digital or film

Langford’s Starting Photography is a hands-on book for those photographers just starting
their love affair with photography. It equally suits shooters with entry and mid-priced level
film and digital cameras, students at school or college using photography as part of art
courses as well as those involved in other formal studies, such as the City & Guilds Certificate in
Photography. The skills and knowledge presented in the book show you how to take and make
great photographs using a highly visual step-by-step approach. Langford’s Starting Photography
gently guides new photographers from tentative beginnings through wobbly first steps to a
level where they can confidently create their own great pictures. The photographic examples
scattered throughout the text are chosen to encourage and challenge the reader, as they are all
within the technical capabilities of beginners with modest gear, such as compact or single lens
reflex (SLR) cameras (preferably with manual controls), and the knowledge and skill provided
within.
